I choose this work specifically because I felt in the IMAA project a certain theatrical approach directing the collector in making an art piece.

The source from the text pieces are from theatre play stage instructions. These often detailed instructions (depending on the writer) are within the scripts themselves and functions to direct what happens on and around the stage at particular parts of the play - aesthetic cues to support the storytelling of the theatre piece.
I take these instructions and remove them from their context, sometimes word by word or I make new combinations. I trace the words by hand letter by letter in an act to focus the attention on the words and sentences themselves and their potential to suggest beyond a specific story..



For the IMAA project, this idea is further explored through the collector who performs the act to trace and to overpaint the paper and again retrace the words to reveal the text underneath..
